To say that today's business climate is fast-changing would be an understatement. There's an ever-increasing torrent of new technologies, gadgets, business practices, methodologies, and more. (Not to mention new paradigms!)

It is very common for technical advisers (particular networking and IT consultants) to not only speak techno-gibberish, but to also recommend products that may be fine in a vacuum but aren't really what you need in your specific environment. There aren't any "one size fits all" answers, and you don't want $10,000 solutions to $100 problems.

There are lots and lots of options out there, and the key is knowing which ones are appropriate at which times and in which situations. And making sure there are appropriate, scalable grow paths, so as not to paint oneself into the proverbial corner.
